What is the Visa Waiver Program?

The Visa Waiver Program allows foreign nationals from certain countries to travel to the United States for tourism, business, or transit, for stays of up to 90 days without obtaining a visa from the U.S. Embassy. Travelers admitted under the VWP must agree to waive their rights to review or appeal, as explained in the Waiver of Rights section of the Application screen

For further information refer to § 217 of the Immigration and Nationality Act, 8 U.S.C. § 1187, and 8 C.F.R. § 217.

A travel authorization is valid for two years after the application date or until the passport expiration date whichever happens first.

If you obtain a new passport or change your name, gender or country of citizenship, you will be required to apply for a new travel authorization.

Renew an ESTA

A traveler must apply for a new ESTA when the previous authorization, or the applicant's passport, expires.

If your ESTA has expired, you must reapply by submitting a new application.

The average time to complete an ESTA application is 23 minutes.
